I did a quick video just to show a technique to do red glitter lips. This would be great if you are doing a Hedwig look for Halloween, or a devil, or any other character that you would want glittery lips for. Wouldn't this look awesome in green for a glam witch costume? Yeah…I think it would ;)

So you want to do drag for Halloween?
A lot of people ask me, “Blanche, I am going to do drag for Halloween. How do I even begin?” So I wrote this up as a basic “ingredient list” of what you will need to pull off even the most basic of drag looks.
Foundation. I use Max Factor Panstick for now. But they are not selling those in the US anymore, and are getting harder to get a hold of. I recommend something like a full coverage foundation. Setting Powder for the foundation. I use Ben Nye Setting Powder. Contour color - I use a matte Ben Nye eye shadow in Burgundy. Highlight color. I use Coty Powder in Naturelle. I have to get it on EBay because I don't think they make it anymore. In a pink you can use a white eye shadow. 3-4 eye shadows. I recommend a matte black one, a matte white one, and then 2 other colors. You can get 2 shades of one color, or 2 colors that go together. Black Eyeliner. Either gel, pencil, or liquid. Eyelashes and glue. I use number 199s from the local beauty supply store. They are usually $1.00-$1.99 depending on where I find them. Look for a store that sells wigs. Not Sally's Beauty Supply. 2 lip liners. A dark red one, and a true red one. I get the Jordana ones at Walgreen's. Pink lip-gloss. You can get a light pink one, or a dark pink. It depends on what look you want. Various brushes. |
Here are some things that are nice to have, but not necessary depending on your look.
Elmer's Washable Glue Stick (for eyebrow covering) NYX Jumbo Pencil (for an eye shadow base) Medium pink blush. (I don't wear a blush with every look) Lipstick. I don't normally wear a lot of lipstick. A lip liner filling in your lips, with a gloss over it lasts longer than a lipstick alone. |
So that is basically it. I hope this helped you at least get a shopping list together. Over the next few days I will be breaking the face down and writing basic instructions for the face, eyes, and lips. Enjoy! :D
Style Black Face Chart
I have been sitting here thinking about what kind of makeup look I am going to do with my Style Black products. so I thought I would make a face chart to see how it would look. This is what I came up with.
Here is how I would do this look.
|
So that is pretty much it. I will be making a video either later today, or tomorrow using these products. Stay tuned to my YouTube channel to see if this is the look I end up doing! ;)

MAC Style Black Collection Haul
So last Thursday the MAC Style Black collection came out, and you know I had to be there as soon as I could to get some! In my last post I showed what I was most looking forward to. I ended up only getting 3 of the products. I got the Cinderfella eye shadow, the Midnight Media Mattene, and the Blackfire Glimmerglass. I am sure I will be going back for the Young Punk eye shadow. Here are some swatch pictures.
Below are some pictured of the products themselves. These are just quick snaps, nothing really fabulous. ;)

Makeup Look Evolution
I thought I would write a little about makeup look evolution. What I mean by this is how a makeup look can evolve from one time its done to another. Or how it can evolve as your makeup skills improve. Let’s take for example the black, white and pink look I showed off in the last posting. I am going to compare it to a look I did almost a year ago.
We won’t even mention the terrible afro wig I was wearing in the first picture. Both looks have a lot of similarities. In both I am using white and black for the main colors and my love of pink is clearly evident. The differences are the products used, and the skill of application. In the original look I used a white Ben Nye cream color over the entire eye area. I then used L'Oreal H.I.P. Black cream liner for the crease area. Both of these were set with Ben Nye matte black and white eye shadow. For the newer look I used the same Ben Nye matte white eye shadow for the main color, and MAC Blacktrack Fluidline and MAC Carbon for the crease. Note how I used a similar product, just in a different way. I suppose the whole point of doing this comparison was to point out to anyone just starting to learn makeup that you can do your face a certain way, and even if you don't like it, or you don't think its as good as what other people are doing, its still a learning process. And even bad makeup teaches us a lot in the long run. So, stay beautiful everyone and lets keep learning together! :D

Black, White and Pink Look
So last night Jay and I were going to go out to pick up some new wigs. I wanted to get into face before going so that when I tried on the wigs I would know what it would look like. I did a black and white look because I was going to wear a black and white dress. And since I was going to wear a pink necklace I decided to put just a little pink on it. Take a look at some of the pictures below. I will go through what I used just a bit. Its a REALLY simple look.
That's pretty much it. The only other thing is I used a black liner on the waterline. Take a look at some of the other pictures below. :)
