Melted Makeup Creams

So to continue my “Martha Stewart” makeup crafting I thought I would show you another palette I have going. This one is a cream palette. I got the empty jars at Michael’s Crafts Store in the bead section. I put the scrapings from my 2 Panstick tubes from the previous blog posting in 2 of them.

In the other 3 jars I have potted NYX Jumbo Pencils. They are Horseradish, Strawberry Milk, and Milk. Potting your pencils is a great way to store them because you lose to much of the product when sharpening them.

Take a look at the picture below.

If you would like more info on how to “Pot” your NYX Jumbo Pencils please take a look at Fayye Dunrunaway’s video on it. I used a candle to do mine, and it was much harder than is shown here.

Ben Nye Cream Foundation

I cannot live without stick foundation. Yesterday I went to Southern Imports here in Houston, and got 2 new Ben Nye foundation cream foundations. I wanted to get a shade a bit darker than my skin, and a lighter highlight color. I picked up “N-3 Buff” and “CN-0 Ultra”

I tried putting them on today, and I liked the way they worked. What I didn't like was that I had to scoop them out of the little pot, and apply with a brush or sponge. So I took 2 empty Pan stick tubes and melted them down.

I put each one in the microwave for 1 and a half minutes. This turned then to liquid. Then I poured them into the Pan stick tube. The Ben Nye foundations, and a Pan stick both hold the same about of product. Both of them are .5 ounces. So I didn't have to worry about the product over flowing.

Take a look at the picture below to see how it worked.

Buff is the darker one. Ultra is the lighter.

Just moved my makeup

So I just moved all of my makeup. I used to keep it on a table on the other side of the room because thats where I alwats did my makeup. Lately I have mostly been doing it in front of the computer, so I thought I would move it over here.

I think this is going to make it a lot easier when doing videos and live shows.

HA, as you can see I was watching Youtube videos. I was actually watching a video by PinkPornstar1.

New Foundation Tutorial Posted on YouTube

I just posted a new foundation and contour tutorial using Bee Luscious Cosmetics foundation and Max Factor Pan stick. This video and the purple look I posted before it are sister tutorials. You watch both, and you have a whole face look from beginning to end. :)

Nicka K. Cosmetics Find at Foxx Beauty Supply

I went to my local beauty supply store here in Houston, and made a wonderful find. Nicka K. Cosmetics. They had a lovely display of some wonderful bright eyeshadows. And you all know me…bright attracts me. So I had to go check them out. I was SO shocked to see that they were each $1.49. I had to get a few of them to try out!

They all come in a small, flat 1.5 inch square flip top container with the Nicka K HD Eye Shadow logo on the top. The ones I picked up all seem to be fairly well pigmented. I am anxious to try them out to see how they will work.

Some of the colors look a bit soft. As you can see the black one has some chips in the shadow itself. We will see how they hold up.

Below are the colors I got. None of them have names, just item numbers on the back of the package.

How to Depot a MAC Eye shadow.

I just posted a tutorial on how to depot MAC Eye shadows. I know this seems to be common knowledge, but a lot of people have still asked me how to do it.

Enjoy!

TAG Video Posted: Shows Your Into/Looking Forward To

I was tagged by Devon aka ihateyou20 to do a video about what TV shows I am into or looking into. If this video is any indication, it looks like I like reality/competition shows. lol.

I posted this on my boy account. I am thinking about making a second Blanche Babcock channel just for videos like this.

Enjoy!

Makeup Look using Bee Luscious Cosmetics!

I did a makeup look tonight using Bee Luscious cosmetics.
Check out out at: http://www.beeroyalproducts.com

Picture 79 Picture 80
For my foundation, I used 3 shades. I used Max Factor Pan stick for the highlight area, and then Pale Beige for the mid tone area, and Country Beige for the shadows. for my contour, I used my Ben Nye Burgundy and Rich Suede  Eye shadow like I always do. I think these colors all looked really good together.

Picture 71 Picture 69
I used the “Dimensional eye Shadow#845 – Fetish” for my eyelid. It came out a rich fuchsia color. Love it! For the crease I used Dimensional eye shadow #805 – NOVA. My camera is not picking up the glitter very well, but its a lovely color.

Picture 83
For the brow highlight I used the
Luscious High Pigment Matte Shadow # 207 Nude Pink
This is a lovely light pinkish color. wonderful for a highlighting or blending color.

Check out my YouTube channel in the next few days for video tutorials using these products.

Bee Luscious Cosmetics!

I was recently made aware of Bee Luscious Cosmetics. This week I am going to be trying out some of their products and doing a review/tutorial for them. In the meantime until I can get a tutorial made check out some of their eye shadows.

I have depotted both of these so I can put them in my palette with all of my other shadows.

From what I can tell these both are very highly pigmented, and as good of quality as any MAC shadow I have.

Dimensional eye Shadow in Fetish
#845

Nova is a LOVELY dark purple with a red glitter in it. I am very anxious to try this one out. Its going to look great with pinks, or even blues. Fetish is a great fuscia with a light blue glitter. I love it! But you all know me and pinks. If its a pink I will love it to death! lol

Here is a set of swatches. Again this is on a white base.
Picture 67
I hope you can really see the glitter  in the darker one. It is sparkling SO brightly here. Very very pretty.

So check out Bee Luscious at their website:

FRIDAY’S MAC HAUL!

I called my MAC counter yesterday to see when the new Make-Up Art Cosmetics line was going to be coming out. I was shocked to find out that it had come out the day before. So I am sure you know a MAC trip was going to be had that night!

I was most looking forward to the Maira Kalman collection in the line. This set has some bright colored shadows.

As usual I was most looking forward to seeing the pinks and purples. When I got to the store, I took some hand swatches of the colors. I was really disappointed with the pink one called Maira’ Mood. It seemed a bit powdery, and didn't have a lot of color pay off.

Purple Shower and Violet Trance were nice, but looked similar to other colors I already had. So I didn't get either of those.

Haunting looked a lot like Aquadesiac and Too Dolly which I already had both of those, so I didn't want another similar color.

I was taken with the orange and yellow one called Off The Page and Crest The Wave respectively. These were nice. And I didn't already have a MAC orange except Paradisco. And the only yellow I have is Bright Future from the Style Warriors collection.

I tried to get some pictures below that showed the color accurately.

Off The Page Crest The Wave

Here is a swatch set on a white base. I think these are going to be nice mid tone colors, and will look good blended into other colors.

Sorry about the swatches on my hairy hand.

My 1950s Marilyn Monroe look

Picture 48 Today for my BlogTV show I did a 1950s Marilyn Monroe look. Or that's what I was going for anyway. I filmed this whole look to make a tutorial and then discovered that I didn't have any sound. ACK! My microphone was turned off.

This look was done with mostly MAC pigments.

Here is a breakdown of what was used.

For the foundation I used a combination of Nude Ivory and Deep Olive panstick. I applied the lighter color to my cheekbones and down the middle. I used the darker color on outer edges and top of the forehead. I powered as normal.

For the eyes I started out by basing out the eyes with the Nude Ivory panstick, and then powdered this with my face powder.

On the eyelid I used my matte white shadow from Ben Nye.

For the crease I used MAC Mauvement pigment, and then deepened with a brown from the Coastal Scents 88 palette.

For the brow highlight I used MAC Vanilla pigment.
Picture 50

For the lips, I used a true red liner, and then topped it with Revlon #740 “Certainly Red” Overall I think this look did give a good example of a workable period look. I just need more time and practice to pull it more successfully.

Ancient Video of the day!

This is the Vlog I did on my first time going out in drag. I think I have come a long way since that night in September of 2008. It’s nice to look back on things from the past sometimes. ;)

Make You Own Eyebrow Stencils!

You all should know me well enough to know, I love my stick on eyebrow stencils from Sally’s Beauty Supply. Here is a link to the ones I use on the Sally's website. I used the curved ones.

Well sometimes a look requires a different shaped eyebrows than the ones you can make with these stencils. Well, I am here today to tell you how to make your own stencils!

Eyebrow Stencils Step #1. Download this page of stencils. I found this someplace on the Internet. I wish I could recall where.

Step #2. Print it off making sure to print it off stretching it to fit one 8.5x11 page. I printed it as borderless.

Step #3. Cover the stencil you want to use with clear shipping tape. I used clear scotch tape because I could not find my shipping tape. Cover both sides of the stencil.

Step #4. Cut out the stencil with either an exacto knife or small scissors.

And that’s pretty much it. You can then use either an eyeshadow, or brow pencil to fill in the brows.

Happy Stenciling!

NYX Chrome Shadows

I recently purchased 2 NYX Chrome eyeshadows. I got them because I wanted to try my hand at pressing them. Let me tell you, they press very nicely. Just mix them with 91% alcohol, and press into a pan. Lovely!  Well I thought I would show you all what I got in my return trip to get more.

I am hoping to make a pressing tutorial once my new palette and empty pans comes in.

Picture 7
This is Chaotic. its a lovely dark blue shimmer.
Picture 6
NYX calls this one “Silver” even though its a really pretty shimmery lavender.

Picture 8
I  am in LOVE with this color. Its called “Red” but its a bright hot pink. Love it!
Picture 9
This one is called just “Light Pink”. I think it will make a LOVELY pink brow  hilight color, or inner eye hilight.

Follow Up To Makeup Collection Video.

I thought I would post this video as a follow up to my last makeup collection video. I did this back in July for the Queen A Day Channel. It is the most current look at my collection.

If you haven't checked out the Queen A Day, check it out below!

A Look Back at My Progression.

Lets take a walk down drag memory lane. here are some pictures that show my progression with makeup. I have mentioned before that I have only been doing makeup for a year. Here is the evidence. ;)

drag4 This is my first time ever doing drag makeup. I had been collecting makeup for a month or so one piece at a time. I called in sick from work, and stayed home and did this to my face. I didnt know what I was doing, but for a first time I dont think it was that bad.

This is my second time getting into face. You can see my love of pink starting to form. I was actually using Ben Nye eyeshadow here. By this time I had started reading the drag message board at www.carriefairfield.com. This site is a wonderful resource, and I highly recommend taking a look at the archive on the board.

As you can see, the “blanche Babcock” look was already starting to take shape here. I have the dark crease going, and the nicely arched eyebrows. I think this was a pretty good look. lol.

DSC06961 This look is just scary, and I dont even know what I was thinking. LOL, I am wearing the same dress as before. At this time, I only owned one dress. I am using one of the LA Colors Metallic palettes here.

LOL @ the afro. I thought I was hot!

DSC06993 Return of the afro!!

This was taken in my living room. I have that picture hanging over my sofa. lol. I bought it at a thrift store, with the tape over it like that. I thought it was so funny, I just left it.

Picture 14 Blanche’s real incarnation is almost manifested. This was my first “real” wig. I loved it. It has since been retired pending reinvention. ;)

Picture 97 This is my first attempt at a 1920’s “silent film” look. its much different than how I would do it now.

Picture 183 MOAR AFROS!!!

This is my first time doing a dark black crease. Love it!

Picture 261 This photo is just proof that I am not all innocent. I love me some Captain Morgan!

Picture 327 This was taken around New Years. I am still hanging on to the white bottom liner. I did this because I was convinced I needed it or my eyes would look closed up. I am glad I left this behind.

I wonder what things I do now that I should probably leave behind. (Dont answer that.)

Picture 21 And that brings us to current modern Blanche. Just a little over a year to get to this point in the journey. Who knows how I will progress and look this time next year. We will see!!!

Thank you guys for taking this trip down drag memory lane with me!
